Permission

Changing Direction, Slowing Down, Wanting More

Hi… It’s Maria and welcome to the Podcast A podcast for women who are creating intentional lives filled with wealth and meaning.

I’m your host, Maria Conde — empowerment and money coach, RTT practitioner, and advocate for doing life differently. If you’ve been craving a slower, more soulful way to build a beautiful life — one that nourishes your spirit and your bank account — you’re in the right place.

Today I am introducing a new episode series called Stillness Speaks. These are going to be short accessible episodes that will bring you more peace in your life and allow you to simply pause and be present for 10 -15 minutes.

The Pause

Let’s begin with 3 breaths to settle the nervous system.

Breath in……….breath out.

Breath in……….breath out.

Breath in……….breath out.

I want to backtrack for a moment and restate the words in the intro…”If you’ve been craving a slower, more soulful way to build a beautiful life — one that nourishes your spirit and your bank account” and this has not been coming easy….this is the permission you’ve been waiting for. That is what today’s episode is about, giving yourself permission to want more, slow down, or change direction without waiting for external validation.

All too often in today’s busy and hectic world where we are over stimulated by technology and other peoples expectations, we lose sight of what really matters, what we really want and even who we are.

Today we are going to address 3 specific areas where I often see people waiting for permission….they are:

Changing direction in life or business,

Slowing down,

Wanting more.

A Familiar Path

Before I go further, I will say that I have found myself in each of these over the course of my life…and not just once! The last time was at the beginning of last year where I finally took a good look at the patterns in my life. I was always in hustle mode. I’m a seriously driven person. I never wanted to disappoint anyone, whether it be in my business or career or personal life. I would have considered myself a serious people pleaser.

Mid last year I had one of those ah ha moments and I honestly don’t even remember what brought it on but I had a deep stirring in me to take a sharp turn in my life. So many things no longer made sense to me. I, again, was burned out. I chose to slow down considerably. I was not longer as concerned about people pleasing. I knew I always did my best but no longer had to take that over the top to the point of burn out. Interestingly, I was waiting for permission to do this and then I realized I could give myself permission….I did not have to have it come from someone else.

Changing Direction

Let’s look specifically at looking for permission for changing direction beginning with business. When you have put, often hundreds of hours into something, you put your whole heart and soul into a project or business and all of a sudden it is not resonating with you, the offer fell flat or the business is dragging you down, it’s not the easiest to walk away from something that really is no longer serving you. A very skilled entrepreneur will know when to walk away but many don’t. They hang on to the bitter end when their health is seriously affected or they lose everything. It doesn’t have to be that way.

The same goes with relationships. Have you ever stayed in a relationship far too long? Only you can answer that.

Slowing Down

How about permission to slow down? This is a big one, especially for women! For so many years we have had to prove ourselves and I will say, at a great cost. It’s not easy for us to slow down. I know when I slow down I feel guilty. It’s not always about someone else….I often used to think….I should be….. NO…you can sit there and read a book….and a fiction book and it will all be OK. If you need permission to slow down….then this is your permission. Please take it so you don’t have to something like a negative health experience to slow you down. Do it on your terms before it’s too late.

Now I want to add that when you slow down, interestingly you can often be more productive! Just saying!

It’s OK to Want More!

Number three is permission to want more. This is a big one because of society pressures and views. Are you saying…”who am I to want more”? Would that not be greedy? What will people think about me?

People often worry about what others are thinking, looking at that external validation. Honestly, people are more concerned with themselves than others. If they are concerned with your decisions and they don’t like it…that is on them. Remember this is your life and this is your permission to do what you want with it. A little caveat that you are only doing good things in this world!

This is a very abundant world. When one person gets more it does not mean that someone gets less. It’s OK to want more…and with no guilt.

If you have listened to me for the first time or the 100th time you will know that I’m clear on my views and that this is your life and you get to design it how you want.

Remember, if you need permission to change directions, slow down or want more…..this is your permission. If you have enjoyed this episode I would love if you subscribed to help get this seen by others and so you stay in the loop on future episodes.

Have a peaceful day,

Maria
